WAVERLY TWP. — The Waverly Community House will host its annual summertime fundraiser Cocktails for the Courts from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 19, rain or shine. The fundraiser was originally conceived to raise money for the improvement and maintenance of the tennis courts.

Proceeds from this year’s Cocktails for the Courts will benefit all community recreation programs (including a backboard for the tennis courts) at the Waverly Community House, furthering the Comm’s mission to provide a safe place for the community and beyond to play.

This year’s theme is “Farm to Table” and one doesn’t have to be a tennis or basketball player to attend, just someone who wants to support recreation for all ages and abilities at the Comm, while sampling spirits and tasty bites from some of the area’s finest eating establishments. Signature cocktails will be served by Tom Hill and the staff of State Street Grill, along with wine and beer. Hors d’oeuvres will be prepared by local establishments. Music is provided by Rich Jenkins.

Cocktails for the Courts is chaired by Amy Kazmierski and Nancy Brown, and is sponsored by Classic Properties; William V. Peters, Esq.; Jerry Donahue, State Farm Insurance and Maria Donahue, Coldwell Banker Town and Country Properties, with media support from Lamar Advertising.

Tickets are $35 and can be purchased at the gate or in advance at the Comm office or online at waverlycomm.org. People must be 21 or older to attend.
