NEW MILFORD — The Harford Fair is seeking community volunteers to help with jobs in preparation for the fair, as well as with off-season events held on the fairgrounds.

Whether it is helping to clean buildings, painting, doing general repairs, helping set up displays, maintaining the grounds, or sitting in buildings during the fair, there is something for everyone to volunteer doing. Specific departments in need of volunteers include Fine Arts, Floral Hall, the Little Red School House, the Information Center, and Vegetable Hall.

This year marks the 159th anniversary of the agricultural fair, scheduled for Aug. 22-27. Based on tradition, this event takes year-round planning, work and preparation by countless individuals.

Those interested in volunteering should email hfair@nep.net or call 570-434-4300 and leave name, a telephone number or email address, as well as the department name or type of volunteering that interests the participant. Fair passes and fair bucks for Harford Fair food stands are distributed in appreciation of the help, depending on the amount of time individuals volunteer.

The Harford Agricultural Society’s Youth Board recently volunteered to do some painting at the fairgrounds. From left, Leah Noldy, Emily Supancik, Maggie Kowalewski, Austin Graham, Laurren Whitney and Jolie Winemiller.
