CLINTON TWP. — Lackawanna Trail junior high students Justice Collett, Kadieann Johnson, Marissa Keyes, Jordan Spencer, Amaralis Thiel and Maria Wetzel recently won the Stock Market Game sponsored by the Honesdale National Bank at The University of Scranton.

The team placed first in the junior high category for the region, first in the junior high category for the state, and 20th overall among junior and senior high school teams.

The Stock Market Game is a classroom simulation that offers players the opportunity to invest a hypothetical $100,000 in stocks, bonds and mutual funds. The game is played on a statewide basis annually. Over 700 teams play at the elementary, junior high and senior high levels. The game is sponsored by Economics Pennsylvania which is affiliated locally with The Honesdale National Bank Center for Economic Education at The University of Scranton.

Two additional junior high teams from Lackawanna Trail finished second and third in the junior high category for the region.

One high school team from Lackawanna Trail, consisting of seniors Matt Merolla and Nick Pawlukovich, placed first in the region and 24th in the state.

All teams were supervised by Lackawanna Trail faculty member Tony Dalasio.
