This month will bring our children’s programs back to action. There are many enjoyable programs planned.

Story Time will continue at 11 a.m. Tuesdays. This session will begin Feb. 7. Get ready for some giggles and fun with our featured author Mo Willems. We’ll hear stories from beloved characters Elephant and Piggie. We’ll also do some counting, alphabet lessons, colors and shapes. Come see what all the children’s excitement is about Tuesday mornings at the Dalton Community Library’s Story Time. Be prepared to share time hearing tales from our young group. All children not old enough for elementary school are invited.

The after school group, Kid’s Crew, will also begin Tuesday, Feb. 7. This group starts at 4 p.m. and is for children in first grade and up. We will make artwork for local displays this month. The kids will paint, using chalk, colored pencils, or any of the available supplies they need to create their masterpieces. We will donate the art to local centers who’ve requested children’s pictures to brighten their facilities. The Kid’s Crew kids are always willing to help when the request for artwork is received. During February, everyone will also have the opportunity to use our building bins of K’nex, Legos, or Keva Planks. These building materials have played a great part in our after school program by keeping the kid’s minds very busy and the ideas flowing.

A special note worth mentioning this month is a reminder for everyone interested in renewing their membership for The Friends of the Dalton Community Library. Membership fee is $5 per person or $8 per family for the year. This group is a tremendous help to our library. Our Friends group helps with the Spring and fall book and bake sale, they help provide so many materials and supplies for our children’s groups and each spring they hold an herb sale. They also help keep our library’s needs up to standards in various way such as helping with building improvements like painting, lighting, tree trimming and parking lot paving. The group’s generosity is a huge asset to our library and everyone is so grateful for the support of all the members. For anyone interested in becoming a member, just stop in the library and let us know.

We can’t wait to see all the kids return this month! We look forward to their smiles and excitement of coming to the library.
