CLINTON TWP. — A Lackawanna Trail High School History Bowl team qualified for the National History Bowl competition in Washington, D.C. April 21-23. The team consists of seniors Matt Merolla and Nick Pawlukovich, and juniors Jennifer Price and Alaina Jones.

Under the advisement of history and English teacher Tony Dalasio, the team finished as a semifinalist in the Northern Pennsylvania History Bowl competition Jan. 28 at Wyoming Area High School. This year’s trip will mark Lackawanna Trail’s third straight appearance at the National History Bowl.

Dalasio hopes the experience will provide added confidence for the younger members of the team and expects the veteran members to perform well considering their dedication to the team and experience in academic competition.

Pawlukovich was excited to travel with the team this spring and hopes the expectations of the Lackawanna Trail team continue to grow.

“We’re on a three-year streak, and I hope the juniors are able to carry the team to a fourth next year,” he said.
