CLARKS GREEN — The borough council hopes to add another chair to its meeting table, starting with the 2017-2018 school year.

According to Councilman David Rinaldi, the board passed Resolution No. 1 of 2017, establishing the position of junior council person, at its regular meeting March 15 at the municipal office.

The Junior Council Person Program, established by the Pennsylvania State Association of Boroughs, gives high school juniors and seniors an opportunity to “participate in the workings of their local government,” according to the resolution. The council will seek candidate recommendations from high school faculty members and guidance councilors, then select a student to serve as junior council person during the school year.

“The council wishes to extend to the youth of Clarks Green Borough a voice in the operation of the borough and its council,” reads the resolution.

In other business, Rinaldi said the council:

• Accepted the resignation of DPW (Department of Public Works) laborer Tom Worobey and agreed to advertise to fill the vacancy.

• Voted to continue charging an additional EDU (equivalent dwelling unit) for residential properties with pool houses.

• Made a decision to seek a second proposal for the codification of borough ordinances.
