FACTORYVILLE — Kerri Bushnell was approved as a new member of Factoryville Borough Council during a regular meeting July 12.

Bushnell, 31, will replace Chris Bergey, who resigned last month. Her term will last until at least Jan. 1, 2018.

“I want to get involved in the community and be a voice for it,” Bushnell said.

Members of the council passed a motion to approve a quote of $1,200 from Keystone Lock & Key Service to install a new intercom camera system in the borough hall.

“This is a new world we’re living in and I think we should do anything we can to make it a little more secure,” Council Vice President Bill Edwards said.

Members of the council passed a motion to approve a bid from Richard Schirg & Sons for LED lighting upgrades for street lights in the borough. The project will include the installation of 25 28-watt LED lamps and bulbs on College Avenue.

According to borough manager Mary Ellen Buckbee, the estimated cost to the borough after a utility rebate will be $2,300.

Buckbee announced the borough received a $200,000 grant from the Wyoming County Redevelopment Authority for the replacement of storm piping and road reconstruction from Church Street to Lindley and Capwell Avenues.

“Our main goal is to get drainage all the way up the hill,” Edwards said.

Members of the Factoryville Borough Council will meet for a regular meeting at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 9 at borough hall, 161 College Ave.
