TUNKHANNOCK — The Dietrich Theater will host its 16th Gathering of Singer/Songwriters at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 23. This year’s lineup includes Lorne Clarke, Tom Flannery, and Abi and Tim Zieger.

The concert is free, but donations are accepted.

Born in Toronto, Ontario and raised in the isolated mining community of Schefferville, Quebec, Clark worked at a number of careers before choosing music for his profession. He has for many years been a regional supporter and promoter of acoustic folk music. An imaginative singer and songwriter, he launched his third CD, “From My Window,” which will be for sale at the concert. It is a collection of 14 new original songs, recorded and produced by singer, songwriter, producer Michael Jerling.

A lifelong resident of the anthracite-coal region of NEPA and a descendant of Irish-famine refugees, Flannery is unwilling to accept injustice in the world and writes and sings about it. Flannery is not only a musician, but also a playwright. He brought several of his plays to the Dietrich Theater, most recently, “The Last Thoughts of Gino Merli,” performed by Bob Schlesinger, of Scranton Public Theatre.

New to the event lineup this year are the Ziegers. Music has been a central part of the couple’s story throughout the years. Since meeting in college, they have been singing, practicing instruments, writing songs, performing, teaching and supporting each other in musical endeavors. They continue to offer a variety of classes for the community at the Dietrich Theater.

All of the musicians will have their CDs for sale at the concert. Free tickets will be available at the door or may be reserved by calling 570-996-1500.

Musician Tom Flannery will return to the Dietrich Theater for this year’s Gathering of Singer/Songwriters on Wednesday, Aug. 23.
