CLARKS SUMMIT — The Abington Community Library recently participated in the Lackawanna County Library System Battle of the Books competition. Teams throughout Lackawanna County read five pre-selected books and answered questions on those books at the competition, held at Marywood University.
The Abington library had eight teams competing in the fourth through sixth-grade Jr. Battle of the Books and three teams competing in the seventh through ninth-grade Battle off the Books.
Through an EITC grant from Weis Markets, Fidelity Discount and Savings Bank, and Baker-Tilly accounting firm, the library was able to provide copies of the books to each participant, as well as shirts for them to wear at the competition.
