SCRANTON — A Clarks Summit Borough project is among the 20 recipients of this year’s Lackawanna County Community Re-Invest funding, totalling $1,058,400. The borough is the recipient of $10,000 toward phase 2 of the Veterans Park Improvement Project, which includes bollards, light poles, safety lighting and landscaping. The total project cost is $25,690.

The Community Re-Invest Program was established in July 2013. It represents the “last mile” funding to help bring the initiatives to fruition. The overall public-private investment since its inception is $4,579,834. Twenty new projects focusing on sports, science, youth, public safety, social service and outdoor improvements to mention a cross section were approved for program funding by the Lackawanna County Commissioners for 2017.

Other recipients include: Triboro Soccer, Weston Park Teener League, Triboro American Legion Baseball (Noakes Park in Taylor), Genealogical Research Society of NEPA in Peckville, Moosic Youth Center, Goodwill Industries, Taylor Borough (two projects), Columbia Hose Company in Carbondale, E.B. Jermyn Lodge 2/Fraternal Order of Police in Scranton, Taylor Fire and Rescue, Taylor Girlssoftball, Clifton Township, Meredith Hose Company in Carbondale Township, Lackawanna Heritage Valley Authority (Olive Street Trailhead), American Legion Post 411 in Jessup, Dunmore Rotary Club – World War I Memorial, Everheart Museum in Scranton and Bread Basket of NEPA in Covington Township.
