SCRANTON — The AFA Gallery, 514 Lackawanna Ave., will hold its 29th annual Holiday Art Auction Saturday, Nov. 18. A preview cocktail hour will begin at 6 p.m. with the auction kicking off at 7 p.m.

The party-style fundraiser will feature a variety of original pieces by regional artists, as well as several experience activities, auctioned just in time for holiday gift giving. Abington area residents who contributed their artwork include Pamela Parsons, of Dalton; David Elliott, of Factoryville; and Peter Hoffer, of Waverly.

This year’s featured artist is Paul Plumadore, whose piece, “Flower Child #8,” will be raffled off. Tickets are $2 each or three for $5 and are available from gallery members or at the gallery.

Tickets for the event are available for $25 at the door and include hor d’oeuvres, desserts, champagne, open bar and live music by Rich Jenkins. To RSVP or for more information, call 570-969-1040.

Plumadore has been making paper montage art since 1975 and, in 1976, was named Upcoming Illustrator by Art Direction Magazine. His work has graced book jackets, record covers, and editorial stories for Dell Books, Avon Books, RCA Records, Psychology Today, The New York Times and many others.

He began his eclectic career at age 7 when he discovered the world of dance. He was on the faculty of the Dance Department of Yew York University’s Tisch School of the Arts shortly after receiving his BFA there, and became a founding member of The NYU Dance Ensemble. He went on to perform with The Paul Taylor Dance Company, to head the Dance Department at Sweet Briar College in Virginia and to present his own choreography under the aegis of Paul Plumadore & Co.

From 2006-2012 he and partner Jim Tindell created Center44, representing 75 International Antiques and Modernism dealers in midtown Manhattan, catering to the upscale design trade.

During this time, Plumadore created “Brain Child,” a surreal fair tale told in rhyme over 100 montage illustrations, which will soon be available on Amazon. His second book, a memoir of his years as a dancer, titled “Archive 1957-1974” is also available on Amazon.

He and Tindell currently live and garden on the Delaware River in a self-designed house that was featured as Home of the Month in Log Home Living magazine.

Since starting to exhibit his artwork again in 2015, he has appeared in numerous gallery shows around America, including The Northeastern Biennial, Art of the State at the State Museum of PA and Where Worlds Collide, his first solo show, at AFA Gallery.
