TUNKHANNOCK — The Dietrich Theater and Kitson Arts Alliance will celebrate The Blues in Art and Music from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 14.

This free event will feature the art and photography of John Rockland, Scott Nichols, Ericka Gibson-Bertram and Katrina King, and the music of The Matt Bennick Project and the Electric Trio with Phyllis Hopkins. Light refreshments will be served as visitors browse the galleries, meet the artists, and listen to the music.

Matt Bennick is a blues guitarist from Forty Fort. Recently, he teamed up with the Electric Trio with Phyllis Hopkins. Hopkins, known for her unique voice and fiery guitar solos, has released two independent CDs of her own music.

King, a Tunkhannock resident, was born in Salt Lake City, Utah. Never formally trained, she started painting in 2000 and loves to paint on recycled materials such as barn wood, old roofing tin and old LP records.

Gibson-Bertram, featured artist, was born in College Town, Oneonta, New York. She is also a self-taught artist whose media of choice are pastels, pen, and paint. She says her unique style “was created over a morning cup of coffee.”

Featured artist Catrina King, a Tunkhannock resident, paints on recycled materials such as barn wood, old roofing tin and old LP records.
