CLARKS SUMMIT — Tim Aikman captured another mixed doubles crown, pairing with Ann Lehman to take the Labor Day Blind Draw Mixed Doubles title, Sept. 5, with a win over Doug Klamp and Judy Downey. Tim also captured the Scranton Tennis Club Mixed Doubles title last month with Cierra Beck as his partner.

A total of 24 teams participated, divided up into six groups of four teams. Each team played the other three teams in their group, with the six group champions and two wild cards making it into the quarterfinals. Aikman and Lehman were wild cards into the playoffs, as they finished second in their group to John Begley and Abington Heights High School tennis coach Kelly Arp. However, they turned the tables on Begley and Arp in the semifinals, defeating them 5-3, while Klamp and Downey reached the final with a 5-1 victory over Bailey Dilts and Connie Weiss.

In quarterfinal action, Dilts and Weiss defeated Joe Lubas and Patti Ostroski, 5-1; Klamp and Downey ousted Ron Lehman and Diane Bailey, 5-3; Begley and Arp edged Joe Bailey and Carol Tutka 5-4 (3); and Aikman and Lehman barely defeated Kiran Kumar and Sarah Borowski 5-4 (5).

John Weiss was the tournament director.
