Summer at the Abington Community Library has been full of exciting events.

In June, we held our Third Annual Authentic American Indian Mini Pow Wow in the library parking lot for a crowd of all ages. So far in July, teens enjoyed a Pancakes and Poetry event and Ray Grins had both kids and adults laughing as he entertained with circus tricks. Still to come are Building Challenges for kids, Cupcake Wars for kids and teens, a World Music event for all ages and more.

Inquire at the library or give us a call at 570-587-3440 for more information.

More than 600 children have registered for the Summer Reading Club. Help us report great statistics to the state as we encourage children to complete the program by bringing in their reading logs. Children may bring in these logs between July 17 and Aug. 31 to receive their certificate and prizes. Prizes will only be awarded to those who turn in their minutes logs. Kids will not want to miss out on ear buds, books and other great rewards. Drawings for the children’s raffle baskets will be held Friday, Sept. 1.

Teens and adults, Friday, Aug. 18 is the final day for Summer Punch. Remember, you may fill out as many cards as you would like before then. Get each card punched at least three times, and then use it as a raffle ticket or exchange it for a free book.
