Here we are, November. We’re getting to the end of a very eventful and successful year at the Dalton Community Library.

One of our huge library events was held last month. The fall book and bake sale was a wonderful day for our library. What a crowd we had. The sale was busy all day and we had one of our biggest sales yet. People were browsing and finding so many good items. The bake sale was great this fall, too, and we’re so happy to serve our community.

Thank you everyone who came out to support our library. Also, a big thank you to everyone who donated items, baked goodies or helped with the sale. A special thanks to Beta Bread and Starbucks for their donations to our bake sale. With everyone’s effort, it was a success. We love how the sale brings out our friends and neighbors. Our next big sale will be in the spring during April.

Our staff will participate in a county-wide Staff Development Day on Tuesday, Nov. 7. So all staff can attend, libraries in Lackawanna County will be closed this day. Everyone will receive the most recent updates to our county’s library system and discuss ways to serve our community as best as possible by incorporating PA Forward.

A few other dates the Dalton Community Library will be closed this month are: Veteran’s Day, Saturday, Nov. 7; Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 23 and the day after Thanksgiving, Friday, Nov. 24.

A big thank you to all the families who visited for our Bringing Books to Life program last month, The Ladybug Lady. What a fun time we had and what a great turnout. We promise to keep delivering fun programs since the community truly enjoys them. The smiles on the children’s faces can’t be beat. Thank you Tracy Doherty and the Northeastern Pennsylvania Reading Association for bringing this event to Dalton.

For those who have not visited our library recently, please stop by and check out our new back deck. This beautiful outdoor area will be a multipurpose area, and utilized especially by our groups. It is truly a great addition to our building. We’re so happy with it.

As the holidays roll in, check our website, lclshome.org/Dalton, for any special programs, change of schedules, or time changes happening at our library.

A special collection being held during November, at our library, in partnership with Friends of the Poor, is donations of pajamas, nightgowns, robes and slippers. Help keep kids warm during cold months by making a donation of these items of newborn/infant through age 12 sizes. We have a donation bin ready to be filled.

Everyone at the Dalton Community Library wishes our patrons a very Happy Thanksgiving. Blessings of good health as we begin the holiday season.
