Factoryville Sportsmen’s Club Open House, noon to 3 p.m. March 20 at the club on Lake Winola Road. The Factoryville Sportsmen’s Club has chosen to participate in the Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation by recruiting interested youth members from the community to join the Sporting Clay’s team. There is a $45 registration fee for each shooter. The shooter will also need to provide his or her own firearm, 12 or 20 gauge, and shells. No single shot firearms will be permitted. Practice will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesdays and from 10 a.m. to noon one Sunday a month. The season runs from March 30 through June 18. If your child is interested in participating but you are unable to attend the open house, you may contact John Hegedty at 570-881-9288 to get the necessary forms. Shooters must complete six practice sessions with a minimum of 25 targets shot by June 8 to be eligible for the state championship at Buffer Creek Sporting Clays in Somerset on June 18.

AHEA Student Scholarship 5K Run/Walk, April 17, registration from 8-8:45 a.m. The run begins at 9 a.m., walk at 9:10. The race will start and finish at Abington Heights High School. Fred Loch Memorial Scholarship Shoot, May 1 at the Factoryville Sportsmen’s Club on Lake Winola Road. Shooting on the clay bird sporting clays course will begin at 9 a.m. followed by a steak dinner at 11:30 p.m. The shoot helps fund the club’s scholarship program for graduating seniors at Lackawanna Trail and Tunkhannock High School.
