Comets edge Knights

Anthony Duboski drove in a run to lead Abington Heights over Scranton, 3-2, in a Lackawanna League Division 1 game on Monday, April 18 in South Abington Township. Peter Nolan allowed one earned run over 6 1/3 innings to get the win.

Cougars shut out Cavs

Valley View topped Scranton Prep, 2-0, in a Lackawanna League Division 1 game on Monday, April 18 in Archbald. Vince Cimini, Robert Pfleckl, Kyler McAllister, Tyler Stafursky, Jack Burke and Jake Grady each had a hit for Prep.

Comets defeat Cavaliers

Sam Arnold drove in two runs to help Abington Heights defeat Scranton Prep, 6-4, in a Lackawanna League Division 1 game on Friday, April 15 in Scranton. Zach Spangenberg added and RBI for the Comets. Jake Swank allowed two earned runs over seven innings to pick up the victory.

Lions hold of Warriors

Lackawanna Trail downed Elk Lake, 6-4, in a Lackawanna League Division 4 game on Thursday, April 14 in Dimock. Thomas Huffsmith had two hits and two RBIs to lead the Lions. Shawn Jones added two RBIs for Trail. DJ Klinges allowed three runs over 5 1/3 innings to pick up the win.

Comets clip Cavaliers

Abington Heights defeated Scranton Prep, 4-3, in a Lackawanna League Division 1 game on Thursday, April 14 in Clarks Summit. Luke Fayocavitz led the Comets with two hits and two RBIs. Nick Termini pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings to earn the win. Vince Cimini led the Cavs with a hit and two RBI’s.

Lions fall to Red Raiders

Blue Ridge defeated Lackawanna Trail, 7-1, in a Lackawanna League Division 4 game on Wednesday, April 13 in Factoryville. Noah Coleman drove in Trail’s only run.

Cavs top Comets

Scranton Prep defeated Abington Heights, 11-2, in a Lackawanna League Division 1 game on Wednesday, April 13 in South Abington Township. Robert Pfleckl had three hits and three RBIs to lead the Cavaliers. Nate Fiala struck out nine batters to pick up the win. Zach Spangenberg had two RBIs for the Comets.

Mountaineers edge Cavs

Dallas downed Scranton Prep, 7-6, in a Wyoming Valley Conference crossover game on Friday, April 15 in Scranton. Luke Brunetti led the Cavaliers with three goals.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Lady Knights hold off Classics

Lake-Lehman defeated Scranton Prep, 13-9, in a Wyoming Valley Conference Division 2 match on Monday, April 18 in Scranton. Cara Kopicki led Prep with five goals and Christine Kaffka scored two.

Classics rout Lady Warriors

Scranton Prep topped Wyoming Area, 15-5, in a Wyoming Valley Conference Division 2 match on Thursday, April 14 in Scranton. Cara Kopicki led Prep with six goals and Christine Kaffka scored four.

Marissa Lewis had two hits and three RBIs to lead Abington Heights over North Pocono in a Lackawanna League crossover game on Monday, April 18 in South Abington Township. Paige Harris struck out six batters to earn a complete game win.

Lady Comets crush Classics

Dominique Emmett had four RBIs to help lead Abington Heights over Scranton Prep, 12-3, in a Lackawanna League Division 1 game on Thursday, April 14 in South Abington Township. Paige Harris allowed two earned runs while striking out eight to earn a complete game win. Emma Tigue and Maggie Ferraro each drove in a run for Prep.

Lydia Dunckle and Izzy Leschingski each had two RBIs to help Lackawanna Trail defeat Elk Lake, 7-2, in a Lackawanna League Division 4 game on Thursday, April 14 in Dimock. Allison Decker struck out three batters and earned the win.

Abington Heights defeated Western Wayne, 87-63, in a Lackawanna League crossover meet on Friday, April 15 in South Abington Township. Dan Uhranowsky placed first in the 800 and 1600 for the Comets. Christian Schimelfenig finished first in the 400, Jake Malone was first in the 3200, Matt Coggins placed first in the shot put, Ty Newman finished first in the javelin and Donavan Superville was first in the high jump. The Comets 400 (Mitchell, Borgia, Green, Sherman) and 3200 relay (Phillips, Malone, Uhranowsky, Burke) teams also placed first.

Lions remain unbeaten

Lackawanna Trail defeated Mountain View, 90-46, in a Lackawanna League Division 4 meet on Wednesday, April 13 in Kingsley. Anthony Berrios placed first in the 100 and 200 for the Lions. Matt Kinback finished first in the 1600, Matt Bergey was first in the 400, Sam Vierling placed first in the 800, Bobby Titus finished first in the 3200, Greg Ellsworth was first in the discus and Cody Stuenzi placed first in the triple jump. The Lions 400 (Maier, Moyle, Bergey, Berrios), 1600 (Stuenzi, Holmes, Berrios, Moyle), and 3200 (Kinback, Titus, Klepadlo, Stuenzi) teams also finished first.

Knights knock off Comets

Scranton defeated Abington Heights, 96-54, in a Lackawanna League Division 1 meet on Tuesday, April 12 in Scranton. Greg Borgia placed first in the 110 hurdles for the Comets. Dan Uhranowsky finished first in the 1600, Jack Malone was first in the 3200, Ty Newman placed first in the discus and Bailey Harris finished first in the triple jump.

Trojans edge Cavaliers

North Pocono defeated Scranton Prep, 73-68, in a Lackawanna League crossover meet on Tuesday, April 12 in Scranton. Stephen Insalaco placed first in the high jump for the Cavs. Ryan Powell finished first in the triple jump, David Horvath was first in the 100, Tristen Shoemaker placed first in the 400, Tommy Doherty finished first in the 800, Kevin Holmes was first in the 200 and Gary Wrobleski placed first in the discus.

Lady Comets cruise by Lady Wildcats

Abington Heights defeated Western Wayne, 99-51, in a Lackawanna League crossover meet on Friday, April 15 in South Abington Twp. Katie Dammer placed first in the 800 and 1600 for Abington. Tiana Yarns finished first in the long jump, Alex Scheuermann was first in the 3200, Allyson Derry placed first in the triple jump and 100, Calista Marzolino finished first in the 100 hurdles, Dani Heine was first in the pole vault, Dani Beamish placed first in the 400, and Faith Judson finished first in the javelin. The Lady Comets 400 (Wynn, Clauss, Henzes, Derry), 1600 (Yarns, Danoski, Henzes, Dammer) and 3200 (Marion, Scheuermann, Danoski, Dammer) relay teams also placed first.

Lady Eagles too much for Lady Lions

Mountain View defeated Lackawanna Trail, 90-45, in a Lackawanna League Division 4 meet on Wednesday, April 13 in Kingsley. Amanda Kinback placed first in the 800, 1600 and 3200 for the Lady Lions. Courtney Petrilak finished first in the 300 hurdles and Trail’s 3200 relay team of Elizabeth Rodenbach, Kathleen Rodenbach, Lili Martin, and Lauren Beemer placed also placed first.

Lady Trojans hold off Classics

North Pocono defeated Scranton Prep, 80-60, in a Lackawanna League crossover meet on Tuesday, April 12 in Scranton. Kate McGrath placed first in the long jump, 100, 100 hurdles and triple jump for the Classics. Madison Ziobro finished first in the high jump, Kate Reilly was first in the 800 and 1600 and AJ Hendershot placed first in the discus.

Abington Heights defeated Scranton, 127-23, in a Lackawanna League Division 1 meet on Tuesday, April 12 in Scranton. Calista Marzolino placed first in the 100 hurdles and high jump for Abington. Kelsey Wynn finished first in the 100 and 200, Carly Danoski was first in the 1600, Emma Henzes placed first in the 400, Alex Scheuermann finished first in the 800, Katie Dammer was first in the 3200, Hannah White placed first in the shot put, discus and javelin, Allyson Derry finished first in the long jump, Tiana Yarns was first in the triple jump and Dani Heine placed first in the pole vault. The Lady Comets 3200 (Davis, Scheuermann, Dammer, Yarns), 400 (Derry, Heine, Clauss, Wynn) and 1600 relay (Danoski, Yarns, Beamish, Henzes) relay teams also placed first.

Abington Heights downed Blue Ridge, 3-0, in a Lackawanna League match on Thursday, April 14 in Clarks Summit. Eric Brickel had 10 kills while Rhys Yarns contributed five aces and eight digs for Abington Heights.
