The Abington Heights junior high girls track and field team placed first in the Class 3A standings at the Phil Tochelli Junior High Championships on Monday, May 9 at Scranton Memorial Stadium.

Mariel Curra placed third in the high jump and Lauren Lombardo finished sixth. Jill Bird finished third in the shot put and second in the discus throw, and Adele Hollander was sixth in the shot put.

Grace Phillips placed third in the 100 and 300 meter hurdles. Anna Marchetta placed fifth in the 100 meter hurdles, second in the 400 meter dash and first in the 300 meter hurdles. Claudia Kozar finished seventh in the 100 meter hurdles.

Maggie Carper placed fifth in the 100 meter dash. Erin Albright was sixth in the 100 meter dash and fifth in the 200 meter dash. Sadie Henzes placed fifth in the 400 meter dash. Elyse Simakaski was third in the 800 meter run and Zoe Detter was fifth. Clarke Kupinski placed fourth in the 200 meter dash.

The Lady Comets 4×800 relay team of Elyse Simakaski, Olivia Albright, Modupse Osuntoken and Zoe Detter placed fourth. Abington Heights’ 4×100 meter relay team of Sadie Henzes, Mariel Curra, Clarke Kupinski and Maggie Carper placed first. The Lady Comets 4×400 relay team of Erin Albright, Maddie Lucas, Sadie Henzes and Anna Marchetta placed third.

Prep girls results

The Scranton Prep girls team placed fourth in the Class 3A standings.

Victoria Atkinson placed first in the long jump and triple jump. Meg Lyons finished seventh in the long jump and second in the high jump. Brenna Klaproth was third in the triple jump, and Olivia Burke finished first in the high jump.

Emmy Bormes placed second in the shot put and fourth in the discus throw. Miranda Nardone was sixth in the 800 meter run, and Kathleen Rose finished eighth in the 200 meter dash.

Scranton Prep’s 4×100 meter relay team placed fourth.

Trail girls results

Lackawanna Trail’s girls team finished 10th in the Class 2A standings.

McKenna Lee was seventh in the 100 meter hurdles. Kate Walton finished seventh in the 100 meter dash. Victoria James was fourth in the 1600 meter run and second in the 800 meter run.

Lackawanna Trail’s 4×100 meter relay team of Kate Walton, Willow Burnell, Madison Swanchak and Isabella Jagoe placed sixth.

AH boys results

The Abington Heights boys team placed second in the Class 3A standings.

Antonio Maletta placed first in the triple jump, fourth in the high jump and first in the 300 meter hurdles. Josh Prezkop was second in the high jump. Ryan Flynn placed first in the shot put and discus throw. Liam Fisher was sixth in the discus throw. Marco Gabriel placed third in the 110 and 300 meter hurdles.

Connor Napierella was eighth in the 100 meter dash. Connor Krieski was second in the 800 meter run and Ethan Mattox was seventh. Jimmy Lefchak was seventh in the 200 meter dash.

The Comets 4×800 relay team of Noah Bolus, Chris Newell, Ethan Mattox and Connor Krieski placed fifth. Abington Heights’ 4×100 relay team of Connor Napierella, James Dana, Sam Kalmanowicz and Jimmy Lefchak placed sixth. Abington Heights’ 4×400 meter relay team of Josh Prezkop, Marco Gabriel, Antonio Maletta and Connor Krieski placed third.

Prep boys results

Scranton Prep’s boys team placed seventh in the Class 3A standings.

Sammy Segers placed fifth in the long jump. Dave Hazzouri was fifth in the triple jump. Ryan Cosgrove finished fifth in the 100 meter dash. Brian Boland was fourth in the 400 meter dash. Kenny Kincel placed third in the 800 meter run, and Cole Jordan finished fifth in the 200 meter dash.

Prep’s 4×800 meter relay team placed second. Prep’s 4×100 meter relay team of Brian Boland, Ryan Cosgrove, Cole Jordan and Donald Rinaldi placed second. Scranton Prep’s 4×400 meter relay team placed sixth.

Trail boys results

Lackawanna Trail’s boys team placed 10th in the Class 2A standings.

Mark Dunckle placed third in the discus throw, Luke Baldwin was eighth in the 100 meter dash, and Miguel Ella finished fourth in the 200 meter dash.

Lackawanna Trail’s 4×800 meter relay team of Alec Jones, Isaac Vierling, Bradyn Genello and JJ Sharpe placed sixth.
