Lackawanna Trail defeated Blue Ridge, 15-50, but was defeated by Elk Lake, 38-20, and Montrose, 16-42, in a Lackawanna League cluster meet Tuesday, Sept. 20 in Montrose. Matt Kinback placed sixth in 17:35 and Bobby Titus finished 14th in 18:41 for the Lions.
Comets pick up win, earn tie
Abington Heights defeated Holy Cross, 19-42, and was tied Scranton Prep, 28-28, in a Lackawanna League cluster meet Wednesday, Sept. 21 in Covington Township. Kyle Burke placed second in 16:48, Dan Uhranowski finished fourth in 16:57, Adam Traweek was eighth in 18:19 and Ethan Mattox placed 14th in 18:34.
Cavs gets win, tie
Scranton Prep defeated Valley View, 15-49, and tied Abington Heights, 28-28, in a Lackawanna League cluster meet Wednesday, Sept. 21 in Covington Township. Tommy Fitzpatrick placed fifth in 17:23, AJ Sluko finished seventh in 18:13, Nick Gershey was ninth in 18:20, Kerry Lyons finished 12th in 18:34 and Greg Bormes placed 13th in 18:34.
Comets finish 32nd
Abington Heights placed 32nd out of 44 teams at the PIAA Foundation Boys Gold Race on Saturday, Sept. 24 in Hershey. Kyle Burke placed 71st in 17:31, Dan Uhranowski finished 94th in 17:46, Ryan Siebecker was 197th in 18:49, Ethan Mattox placed 216th in 19:04, Nathan Kizer finished 257th in 19:46, Adam Traweek was 272nd in 20:13 and Thomas Kerrigan placed 273rd in 20:16.

Lady Lions claim one win
Lackawanna Trail defeated Blue Ridge, 15-50, but fell to Elk Lake, 46-15, and Montrose, 33-25, in a Lackawanna League cluster meet Tuesday, Sept. 20 in Montrose. Ashleigh Clarke placed ninth in 22:21 and Tori James finished 1oth in 22:35 for Trail.

Abington Heights was defeated by Scranton Prep, 44-25, and Holy Cross, 34-23, in a Lackawanna League cluster meet Wednesday, Sept. 21 in Covington Township. Katie Dammer placed second in 18:35 and Alex Scheuermann finished third in 19:45.
Classics earn three wins
Scranton Prep defeated North Pocono, 25-36, Valley View, 20-39, and Abington Heights, 25-44, in a Lackawanna League cluster meet on Wednesday, Sept. 21 in Covington Twp. Mia Bellucci placed ninth in 20:56, Anna Brier finished 11th in 21:18, Allison Walsh was 13th in 21:37 and Adiya Golden placed 14th in 21:39.

Abington Heights finished 26th out of 45 teams at the PIAA Foundation Girls Gold Race on Saturday. Sept. 24 in Hershey. Katie Dammer placed fourth in 18:44, Alex Scheuermann finished 75th in 20:57, Sarah Bath was 212th in 22:56, Emma Marion placed 219th in 23:00, Blanca Calvo finished 221st in 23:01, Annie Wesolowski was 22nd in 23:03 and Alison Kane placed 285th in 24:55.

Lady Cougars shut out Lady Comets
Hazleton Area defeated Abington Heights, 5-0, in a Wyoming Valley Conference Division 1 match Wednesday, Sept. 21 in Hazleton. Ashlynn Fitzgerald made 17 saves for Abington Heights.
Lady Lions outlast Lady Crusaders
Courtney Dwyer scored two goals to help Lackawanna Trail defeat Coughlin, 3-2, in overtime in a Wyoming Valley Conference Division 1 match Monday, Sept. 26 in Clinton Township. Lauren Beemer added a goal for Trail and Elizabeth Rodenbach and Lauren Baldwin had assists. Sarah Weisenfluh made 10 saves.

Lakeland tops Lackawanna Trail, 27-7, in a Lackawanna League Division 3 game Friday, Sept. 23 in Scott Township. James Gillespie scored the lone touchdown for the Lions.

Carbondale Area defeated Lackawanna Trail, 7-2, in a Lackawanna League match Tuesday, Sept. 20 in Forest City. Andy Faist had an individual win and the team of Faist-Richard Rodenbach won in better-ball play for Trail.
Comets qualify four
Four Abington Heights golfers qualified for the District 2 Class 3A individual championships during a qualifier Wednesday, Sept. 21 in Moscow. Troy Kelleher carded a 75 to tie for third place, Will Brown shot a 77 to finish seventh, Luke Fayocavitz had a 78 to finish tied for eighth and Connor Kelleher carded an 83 to place 14th.
Cavaliers qualify six
Evan Murphy carded a 77 to place second, Jack Habbeb and Tyler Marchese shot an 80 to tie for third, Frank Adamo had an 82 to tie for sixth, Sebastian Cimoch placed eighth with an 83, and John Redman tied for 19th with a 90.

Luke Fayocavitz, Kyle Porpiglia, Dan Munley, Pat McGrail, Will Brown and Daniel Flickinger won individual matches and the teams of Fayocavitz-Porpiglia, Munley-McGrail and Brown-Flickinger won in better-ball play.

The teams of T. Kelleher-Nick Sebastianelli, C. Kelleher-McGrail and Brown-Fayocavitz picked up better-ball wins.

Classics claim tourney title
Scranton Prep won the Scott Greens Classics with a team score of 149 Tuesday, Sept. 20 in Scott Township. Prep’s Reilly Ruane claimed the individual title by shooting a 35. Lauren Golden followed with a 36, Alex Fitzsimmons carded a 37 and Gabby Hanstrin shot a 41.
Classics finished second
Scranton Prep placed second out out 12 teams at the Spring-Ford Invitational Saturday, Sept. 24 in Linfield. Reilly Ruane shot an 84, Alex Fitzsimmons carded an 85, Lauren Golden had an 89 and Gabby Hanstein shot a 97.

Abington Heights defeated Delaware Valley, 5-2, in a Lackawanna League Division 1 match Tuesday, Sept. 20 in Clarks Summit. Dan Muller, Jonathan Rickwood, Jimmy Lefchak, Anthony Freda and Roman Chastain scored goals for the Comets. Evan Florey had two assists and Luke Abdalla and Lefchak each had one. Jackson Danzig made nine saves for Abington Heights.
