Comets crush Buckhorns

Trey Koehler scored a game-high 18 points to help Abington Heights defeat Wallenpaupack, 66-26, in the quarterfinals of the District 2 Class 5A tournament Feb. 21 in Carbondale. George Tinsley added 17 points for the Comets and Lucas Goodman scored 10.

Lions bounced from playoffs

Blue Ridge defeated Lackawanna Trail, 73-65, in the quarterfinals of the District 2 Class 2A playoffs Feb. 22 in Tunkhannock. Travis Ankoff scored 26 points to lead the Lions, Ronnie Traver scored 11, and Shawn Jones and Anthony Berrios each added 10 points for Trail.

DIVING

Comets diver wins district title

Abington Heights’ Carter Smith placed first in District 2 and second overall in the District 2/4 Class 3A Boys Regional Diving Championships Feb. 26 at Wilkes-Barre CYC. Sydney Dana finished sixth in the girls competition, Camille Marquardt placed 10th and Karley Feather was 12th.
