Second annual Strawberry Day 5K, June 18, registration begins at 7:30 a.m. at the National Running Center, 318 Davis St., Clarks Summit. The 5K run/walk will begin at 9 a.m., followed by Kids Fun Run at approximately 10 a.m. The cost of the 5K run/walk is $25 and the Kids Fun Run is free. After the race, there will be vendors selling strawberry-themed items. There will also be pork barbecue available for lunch along with desserts and baked goods. Proceeds from the event will be used toward the renovation of The Gathering Place, 304 S. State St. on the ground floor of the Clarks Summit Borough Building.

PA Fish and Boat Commission Fly Fishing Introduction Course, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 25 at Lackawanna State Park. The free course is designed for families interested in learning the basics of fly fishing equipment, casting techniques and on water skills. No fishing license or equipment is needed. Pre-registration is required by 4 p.m.on June 23 and can be completed online at www.gonefishingpa.com under the family fishing program link. Proceeds will benefit the Dave Mattei Mission Fund, which provides emergency assistance to Regional Hospital employees in times of personal crisis. Louis A. Koch Memorial 5K Run/Walk, July 23 at the Olive Street trailhead of the Lackawanna River Heritage Trail. The race will raise funds for a memorial scholarship that will be given for underprivileged youths to attend the Keystone/Trout Unlimited Teens Conservation Camp at Keystone College and the Louis A. Koch Annual Memorial scholarship at Holy Cross High School.
