Thanks to the dedication of this yearâ??s team, led for a third consecutive year by WNEP-TVâ??s Ryan Leckey, and the generosity of the local community, the 2012 Ryanâ??s Run campaign raised $264,602. Over the past three years, the campaign has raised over $611,000.
When it was announced at the last moment that the New York Marathon was canceled, the team quickly volunteered to collect and recently delivered supplies for victims of Hurricane Sandy in New York and New Jersey. Many of the runners also ran 26.2 miles locally to fulfill their commitment to those in the community who donated to Ryanâ??s Run in their name.
â??As a former marathoner, I am inspired by each one of the runners who trained so hard to help Allied Services,â? said William P. Conaboy, Esq., President and CEO, Allied Services Integrated Health System. â??This year, they not only have helped our patients, but our neighbors in need in New York and New Jersey as well.â?
Last year, funds raised by the campaign were used to purchase the state-of-the-art ZeroG weight support systems for Heinz Rehab Hospital in Wilkes-Barre and Allied Rehab Hospital in Scranton. This proven rehab technology has helped patients rehab faster, reducing recovery time and getting them back to their lives.
One hundred percent of the funds raised this year will go toward rehab technology and treatment of children and adults in Northeastern Pennsylvania.
â??The support of our sponsors, donors and community is inspiring to all of us at Allied Services,â? noted Conaboy. â??The success of the third Ryanâ??s Run campaign will enable us to continue offer the very best rehabilitative care with technology found nowhere else in this region.â?
Allied Services wishes to thank the countless Ryanâ??s Run supporters for their overwhelming support and generous donations. In particular, their major sponsors - Jack Williams Tire & Auto, Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs, Ronald McDonald House Charities, ParenteBeard, Weis Markets, FNCB Bank, Northeastern Rehabilitation Associates - their media sponsor -WNEP TV 16 - and of course, the Team Leckey runners.
