The County of Lackawanna Transit System (COLTS) will hold a Toy Drive called ‚??Stuff the Bus‚?Ě to benefit the Marine Corps Toys for Tots Foundation Dec. 4, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
People can drop off new, unwrapped toys and books at the COLTS Trolley on the Spruce Street side of Courthouse Square near the bus shelter. Monetary donations will also be accepted. Last year, 1,065 toys were collected in the COLTS trolley.
‚??We felt that we could really do something special by having a toy drive to help the local Toys for Tots program,‚?Ě said Executive Director Bob Fiume. ‚??Based on the success we have had in the past two years, we are hoping to bring joy to children who otherwise may not have had presents to open. We‚??re really hoping that people in our community come out in big numbers to literally ‚??stuff the bus‚??.‚?Ě
This marks COLTS‚?? Third Annual Stuff the Bus, in which the transit agency partners with Marine Wing Support Squadron 472 Detachment Wyoming, which serves Lackawanna, Luzerne, Susquehanna, Wyoming, Sullivan, Tioga, Bradford, and Potter counties and helped 24,000 children in this multi-county area in 2011.
The Rock 107 Morning with DiRienzo and Prospector will broadcast live from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. Santa Claus will also be on hand throughout the day.
