As a service to the community, Cub Scout Pack 21, located at the LaSalle School in Dickson City (formerly St. Mary's) and charted by the St. Mary's Church in Dickson City, recently held a food drive within the pack.

All food donated was then delivered by the Webelos I & II dens to the Scranton Rescue Mission, located on W. Olive Street, Scranton. The boys enjoyed their time at the SRM, with Vince Cesari of Throop stating, This is great. We get to help feed people who cannot feed themselves.

Cub Scout Pack 21 encourages boys to visit the pack to see what scouting is all about. Cub Pack Master, Jeff Allan, of Dickson City, invites local families to attend. Boys in grades 1-5 are welcome, regardless of residency and denomination.

Cub Pack 21 participates in various Cub Scouting activities including: harvest fun, crafts, contests, camp outs, outdoor adventures, community events, day camp & summer resident camp at Camp Acahela. Cub Pack 21 does offer a uniform recycling program and financial aid for uniforms is available.

The Scranton Rescue Mission is a part of the Keystone Rescue Mission. There are over 300 Rescue Mission's across America and 10 in Pennsylvania. They do much more than feed the homeless. The Keystone Rescue Mission rescues people by intervening in their moment of crisis--homelessness, addiction, abuse, release from prison, etc.

In addition to providing church services and a meal, the SRM also provides free haircuts, food distribution, clothing and bedding distribution, and most recently has added Kids Klothes Line, focusing primarily on helping children and families. Church services and meals are available Thursday through Monday at 5:45 pm.
