State Rep.-elect Marty Flynn said his constituent services office is open and ready to assist residents of the 113th Legislative District in navigating state government agencies and services, particularly the Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program, which has a Dec. 31 deadline.

My staff and I look forward to helping each and every person who stops by the office or calls with a concern about state government, said Flynn, D-Lackawanna, who will be sworn in to office Jan. 1 at the state Capitol in Harrisburg. If we don't have an immediate answer, we will make the necessary inquiries to get an appropriate response to everyone's question.

Flynn said Thom Welby, chief of staff, and Ryan Healey, legislative assistant, will staff the office -- 409 N. Main Ave., Jay's Commons in Scranton -- from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The phone number is 570.342.4348.

The office is centrally located, has adequate parking and even a drive-up window for those who merely have a quick drop-off or pick-up, he said.

Flynn's Harrisburg office is staffed by Suzanne Chadwick and can be reached at 717.787.8981.

The freshman legislator said his office can provide free assistance with the Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program, which provides state rebates on property taxes or rent paid in 2011 to eligible Pennsylvanians 65 and older; widows and widowers 50 and older; and people with permanent disabilities 18 and older. The income limit is $35,000 a year for homeowners and $15,000 annually for renters, and half of Social Security, Supplemental Security or federal Railroad Retirement Tier I income is excluded.
