Emily Jonsson, a freshman from Clarks Summit was a double winner at the Raise A Racquet For Children’s Advocacy Center Tennis Championships held at Birchwood Tennis & Fitness Club in Clarks Summit.
Jonsson won both the Girls 16-Under and 18-Under divisions without dropping a set. In the G16’s she defeated Madison Nardone of Dallas 6-1, 6-0. Nardone won a dramatic match in the Semi Final against Emilia Jakubek of Honesdale. After losing the first set1-6, Madison found her game and won the second set 6-1, then the match tie – breaker 10-2.
In the Girls 18-Under Jonsson defeated Amber Jadus, a senior at Valley View in the semi final 6-1, 6-4. Then defeated Emilia Jakubek in a tight match 7-6 (2), 6-1.
Emily Jonsson is currently ranked #76 in the Middle States (Pennsylvania, Delaware, +New Jersey) in the Girls 16 – Under.
In other events, Gabby Jakubek of Honesdale won the Girls 12- Under division defeating Claire Delavalle of Dallas 6-1, 6-0.
Jared Kleppardo of Nicholson won the Boys 12 – Under division defeating Ben Feibus of Clarks Summit 6-1,6-0.
Tony Kutz of Clarks Summit defeated Eamon Gibbons of Clarks Summit in the Boys 14 – Under division 6-0, 6-1.
Tony also advanced to the final of the Boys 16-Under division before losing in the final to Peter Kazmierczak of Old Forge 6-2, 6-2.
Jai Redkar of Clarks Summit won the Boys 18-Under division beating Pete Kazmierczak 6-4, 6-3.
The Raise A Racquet For The Children’s Advocacy Center is a USTA sanctioned District event that is held every year at Birchwood Tennis & Fitness Club.
