PennDOT is encouraging motorists traveling through Northeastern Pennsylvania for the Labor Day holiday to take a safety break at Interstate rest areas and Welcome Centers.

From August 31 to September 3, community non-profit organizations will serve free coffee at rest areas on Interstates 80, 81 and 84, and at the Matamoras and Great Bend Welcome Centers. The effort is coordinated through PennDOT to encourage drivers to take breaks from driving while traveling over the holiday.

For information on participating in safety breaks, contact PennDOTâ??s Roadside Specialist Bill Fives at 570.963.4016 or email [email protected]
