The Annual Newton Township Golf Tournament to benefit the Newton Recreation Center was held on Saturday, Aug. 25 at Summit Hills Golf Course.

Nineteen teams participated in this yearâ??s event. Winners were: First flight women: Kathy Schwarztrauberâ??s team, VFW Ladies Auxiliary. First flight men: First place, Team Arbyâ??s. Second flight men: First place, John Pardueâ??s team.

Proceeds from the golf tournament will be used toward updating the gym at the Newton Recreation Center, located at 1814 Newton Ransom Boulevard, Clarks Summit.

The center, open to the public, hosts an outdoor basketball court, picnic pavilion, soccer fields, and paved walking track, all in a beautiful country setting.

Inside there is a gymnasium, fitness center, community room, history room and concession. The Center is a great place to hold parties, basketball leagues, exercise programs.
