HOBY was established by the veteran Actor Hugh O??Brian following a visit to Africa where he was inspired by a meeting with Dr. Albert Schweitzer.
Students were chosen for their outstanding oral or written communication skills, critical and/or creative thinking, sensitivity to the needs or concerns of others, courage to speak out for one??s beliefs, creative problem-solving, strong decision-making skills, courage to challenge authority and community service.
