The University of Scranton Small Business Development Center (SBDC) will hold the seminar �??Shale Gas 101 for Small Business�?� on Tuesday, Sept. 18 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the Forest City Borough Building. The seminar will provide participants with information about the deep gas industry and the opportunities it presents to existing small businesses as well as aspiring entrepreneurs in the local area.

�??It can be difficult for entrepreneurs to figure out where to begin when it comes to the shale gas-related opportunities they hear so much about,�?� said Lisa Hall, director of the Scranton SBDC. �??This seminar not only provides information about how a business can profit from the Marcellus Shale, but it also gives participants the chance to network and make valuable connections.�?�

At the seminar, expert presenters from The University of Scranton SBDC and Penn State Extension will provide an overview of the deep shale industry and discuss potential opportunities that exist for small businesses. They will provide guidance in preparing to start or expand a business and offer information about additional training and assistance available to small businesses. In addition, a representative from a small business in the region will share some wisdom and lessons learned.
