MOOSIC – Representatives from Lackawanna Trail and Scranton Prep will be part of the Lackawanna League team that faces the Wyoming Valley Conference at 1 p.m. Sunday, June 7 at PNC Field in Moosic in the third annual Field of Dreams senior high school baseball all-star game.

First baseman Jared Phillips and pitcher/shortstop Liam Dougherty from Lackawanna Trail are part of the Lackawanna League team that was finalized Thursday morning.

Joe Ross from Scranton Prep will coach the Lackawanna League team, which includes Cavaliers shortstop Dan Ryan.

The final rosters for the game were not settled until Thursday because game officials were waiting to see which players would be available based on the rain-delayed Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association playoffs. PIAA rules do not allow players to compete in any all-star games until their high school careers have concluded.

When Wyoming Valley West, Abington Heights and Blue Ridge won state playoff games Wednesday, the rosters were finalized by replacing players from those teams.

Tyler Ksiazek, Zach Manasek and Jimmy Fayocavitz from Abington Heights, who had been selected but are unable to participate, will be honored during pre-game ceremonies.

The WVC and Lackawanna League split the first two games in the series, which is played at the home stadium of the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders, the top farm team of the New York Yankees.

The Lackawanna League won the first game, 8-6, in eight innings in 2013. The WVC came back to even the series with a 7-3 victory last season.

Ron Musto from Wyoming Area will coach the WVC team.

This year’s game will be nine innings, an increase from the previous seven-inning format.
