Making her West End debut, Emilia Clarke, of “Game of Thrones,” stars in National Theatre Live’s 21st century retelling of Anton Chekhov’s tale of love and loneliness, “The Seagull.”
Coming to the Dietrich Theater on Sundays, Nov. 13 and 20 at 2 p.m., this acclaimed production was filmed live in London.
“The Seagull” tells the story of a young woman desperate for fame and a way out, a young man pining after the woman of his dreams, a successful writer longing for a sense of achievement, and an actress wanting to fight the changing of the times. In an isolated home in the countryside, dreams lie in tatters, hopes are dashed, and hearts broken. With nowhere left to turn, the only option is to turn on each other.
Following his critically acclaimed five-star production of “Cyrano de Bergerac,” Jamie Lloyd brings Anya Reiss’ adaptation of Anton Chekhov’s classic play to stage.
According to Emilia Clarke, “We are so excited to share ‘The Seagull’ with audiences around the world through National Theatre Live. Bringing theatre to a wider audience is incredibly meaningful to me, and I hope you’ll join us to see ‘The Seagull’ unveiled on the big screen this autumn.”
General admission is $14. Senior and member tickets are $12 each and student and child tickets are $10 each. Tickets are available at DietrichTheater.com, by calling 570-836-1022×3 or at the ticket booth.
