Digital Arts: Can’t decide whether you like animation, film or robotics best? Then try Digital Arts. This camp is Box of Light’s digital smorgasbord. Every day has a different challenge. We’ll cover claymation, green screen, film, digital books and robotics. Sculpt, build, film, program and hang with your tribe. Maybe one of these processes will be your future career. The Dietrich Theater invites children and adults alike to expand on their innate curiosity of the natural world by becoming fully immersed in fun and educational nature-based activities. Through science-based exploration and outdoor play, children and their caregivers will have an opportunity to explore several learning activities based on the week’s theme where children can practice fine motor skills, sensory investigation, creativity, and math and literacy skills. Like the one-room schoolhouse, each participant will find something at their skill level and interest, and best of all, encourages cooperation and fun! Families in Nature is a great way to get outside with your children, foster curiosity and explore the natural world.

CDC and PA Department of Health Guidelines will be followed for this outdoor class.

LEGO Maniacs Camp

LEGO MANIACS (Stop Motion with LEGOs): It’s time to get your LEGO freak on! Every LEGO Maniac has an epic movie just wanting to burst out of their brain and into the world. This is the chance to make that happen! Learn Stop Motion Animation. You’ll build LEGO sets, use LEGO mini-fig characters and learn how to make your vision into an actual animated movie. Learn the principles of stop motion animation as you build, film and create the soundtrack for your LEGO masterpiece. In the end, your film will be shared with the world through Box of Light’s website. Everything is indeed awesome. Space is limited and preregistration is required. Plein air simply put is a French term for painting outside. There is no better way to learn to paint the landscape than to get outside and paint it! This class is open to beginner students as well as more advanced students. The class will address issues with handling the changing light and weather conditions as students work with the medium of their choice. Registration is required. In this class students will be introduced to the medium of clay. They will learn to work on potter’s wheels and develop hand-building (coil and slab construction) and sculpting techniques. All materials will be supplied. All levels of experience are welcome.

QiGong

Qigong is a system of coordinated body-postures, flowing movements, breathing practices and meditation. During these classes, certified QiGong teacher Rosalie Allan will guide students through this ancient practice for today’s ever-changing world.
