As with years past, the Dietrich Theater’s Fall 2022 Film Festival features some of the most acclaimed films available in the foreign, independent and documentary market. With twenty-three films curated, the historic theater’s Fall Film Festival will run for twenty-one days from September 23 through October 13. Festivities will kick off with an Opening Night Gala on September 23. According to Dietrich Theater Executive Director Erica Rogler, “The evening will celebrate great film and our outstanding local restaurants.” The night will begin with a delectable buffet of food by Twigs Café & Restaurant, the Fireplace Restaurant, Ma Greenley’s BBQ, Tioga Bistro, and Samario’s Pizza as well as soft drinks and wine and beer by Nimble Hill Winery and Brewery. The two films selected for the evening are the cinematic gems Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris, starring Leslie Manville and Isabelle Huppert that was adapted from the best-selling novel and made in partnership with the House of Dior, and Brian and Charles, a quirky film about a lonely inventor in Wales who creates an AI robot from washing machine parts and various other spare parts. Between films, a sumptuous spread of desserts will be provided by T & C Grille/bakery 420. Tickets are $40 in advance and $45 at the door and can be reserved by call the Dietrich at 570-836-1022 x3.
In addition to the two Opening Night films, the festival showcases twenty –one additional films including Ali & Ava, Bitterbrush, Both Sides of the Blade, CatVideoFest 2022, Fire in the Mountains, Fire of Love, Hallelujah: Leonard Cohen, A Journey, A Song, How to Please a Woman, Lost Illusions, A Love Song, Marcel the Shell with Shoes On, Mr. Malcolm’s List, Official Competition, Rogue Agent, Stay Prayed Up, Tutankhamen: The Last Exhibition, Venice: Infinitely Avant-garde. This festival will also celebrate classics like The Big Lebowski from 1998, A Hard Day’s Night from 1964, and Some Like It Hot, which was released in 1959, as well as a favorite for a past Dietrich Film Festival Fantastic Fungi.

Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris journeys to Paris to find the perfect dress and herself in the process. Hallelujah: Leonard Cohen, A Journey, A Song takes us on a journey to discover the power and history of a song. Marcel the Shell with Shoes On takes us on a journey to find his family and a journey of self-discovery. Fire of Love takes us on a journey to the fiery volcanic mountains and the love and bond shared by two daredevil explorers. We even journey into the past with some fan favorite films from years gone by in The Big Lebowski, A Hard Day’s Night and Some Like It Hot. Come take the journey with us this fall.”
In addition to twenty-one days of films and the Opening Night Gala, the Dietrich will also host a Preview Day on September 8 at 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. All are invited to screen the twenty-three movie trails of the films featured in festival. The Dietrich will also present a Post Festival Film Discussion. On Friday, October 14 at 1 p.m., join in a discussion about the films you saw in festival. All are invited to share their thoughts, ask questions and discover what others thought about the festival films. Admission is free.
The Dietrich’s Fall 2022 Film Festival is made possible by 32 local business sponsors and 122 individual sponsors as well as funding from the Wyoming County Room Tax Fund and Endless Mountains Visitors Bureau and the PA Humanities and the National Endowment of the Humanities as part of the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021.
