CLARKS SUMMIT – At October’s Clarks Summit Council meeting, borough manager Virginia Kehoe recalled that last month council authorized her to find someone to perform emergency street repair on State Street. She said that she reached out to companies and received a quote from Linda Construction in the amount of $24,990.
Council voted to hire Linda Construction.
In other business, council voted to table the MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) to the council meeting in November. Kehoe explained that the current agreement says that the new hires start at 75%.
“Given the market right now, the union suggests that maybe we want to start at 90%,” she said. “They do not want to this to be considered precedent, and that’s why we’re signing the MOU to say it’s a one-time thing.”
Kehoe mentioned that the MOU is normally 75%, the first year, 90% the second year, and 100% the third year..
“This time, it will be two years at 90%,” she said.
Council voted to approve the following new hires:
• Lucas Schultz as part-time police officer.
• Justin Mabie as full-time firefighter.
• Marc Altier as full-time Department of Public Works worker.
