SOUTH ABINGTON TWP. – At October’s South Abington Township supervisors’ meeting, township manager David O’Neill announced Resolution 2022-13, which is to implement the property tax waiver provisions.

He explained that if a person purchases a house but doesn’t receive the first tax bill, he or she won’t be penalized. He said that if the person receives a second notice, in which he or she owes money, that person is required to pay.

“They still have to pay their taxes,” O’Neill said.

Council voted to pass the resolution.

In other business, O’Neill talked about the Jack Jr. Land Development, in which South Abington resident John Heim plans to add an additional building for storage units on top of Skyline Drive.

“There’s engineer comments going back and forth between his engineer (and) our engineer,” he said.

O’Neill said that Lackawanna County made comments to the engineer about parking.

“We need the engineer to make sure everything is on the up and up” he said.

Supervisor Giles Stanton asked about a landscape plan. O’Neill replied that there is a lot of trees between the housing development on Skyline Drive and the development. He also mentioned that there is a koi pond in the middle of the units.

In other business, the supervisors voted to hire Marcus J. Tillin as part-time maintenance worker.
