CLARKS SUMMIT – The Abington Business & Professional Association and Clarks Summit Council put together another holiday event for the Summit Stroll series.
This time, it will be the annual tree lighting. It will be on Friday, Nov. 28, at 6 p.m. There will be hot cocoa and donuts provided by the ABPA. The Department of Public Works will already be placing lights on the tree. But this year, more lights are welcome for the public. They are also welcome to bring an ornament for the tree lighting. They can drop off the ornament at either PS Bank or Imagine NEPA before Nov. 11.
During the event, Clarks Summit Council members will participate and address the crowd. There will be a photo opportunity for families and friends to pose with during the lighting. Windows located on State Street might be decorated for the Christmas season. There will also be performances from the Wally Gordon Singers.
“We will be singing various traditional Christmas carols, including O Come All Ye Faithful and We Wish You a Merry Christmas,” said director Loriann Kerber.
The Wally Gordon Singers will be hosting their first Christmas concert since the pandemic at Clarks Summit United Methodist Church on Sunday, Dec. 4, at 6p.m. Admission for this will be free. There will be a reception after the concert.
“We’ll be singing a mix of contemporary and traditional music, both sacred and secular,” said Kerber.
Back at the tree lighting, there will also be a performance from the Abington Heights Marching Band. Janice Bevacqua, president of the ABPA and Katie Lane, vice president of the organization, as well as the rest of the members have worked hard to continue the Summit Stroll Series. On Saturday, Dec. 10, the Summit Stroll Series will continue to celebrate the holiday season with the Small Town Holiday Festival.
