SOUTH ABINGTON TOWNSHIP — At March’s South Abington Township supervisors’ meeting, Township Manager David O’Neill said that he received estimates for the paving project this year for the following streets: Fawnwood Drive, the 500 block of Griffin Pond Road, a small shoulder of Leach Hill Road, Cedarwood Place, Lakewood Drive and Laconia Circle.
He said that half of Laconia Circle was paved about 15 years ago. He brought up the idea of freshening that portion and make it one complete loop. He said that he asked the engineer to do an add-on for the other section of Laconia Circle.
“The original section of Laconia (Circle) would be $111,000,” he said. “The other roads add up to approximately $420,000 with Laconia Circle.”
O’Neill said that the project was budgeted at $500,000. He mentioned that with the engineer’s work and the bids along with the add-alternate, the project would add up to approximately $467,000.
“The numbers came in fair,” he said.
The supervisors voted to approve the engineer to do the bid for all of the aforementioned streets.
In other business, O’Neill announced a request for a tax assessment for the property of the Preserve at Gravel Pond and on Oak Ridge Circle, which are owned by John and Cecilia Mercuri.
The supervisors voted to approve solicitor Bill Jones to sign the legal documents to approve the assessment appeal.
