Welcome summer!

We hope everyone is able to savor the fullness of the summer months. Take time to explore the outdoors and take in every ounce of sunshine. In the evenings, relax to the sound of bullfrogs croaking by neighboring ponds and fireflies flitting across the lawn.

Summer Quest, our County Summer Reading program, runs from June 20 to Aug. 12 this year. Our theme this year is “All together Now” and all ages may participate. Go to Bean Stack on the LCLS home page under Summer Quest to sign up for Challenges and to keep track of your reading. This year is also Lackawanna County Library’s 40th anniversary. Dalton Community Library participates in the LCLS programs and we have a busy summer scheduled.

On July 6 at 11:30 a.m., we will be hosting a Colorful Chameleons program for ages 4 and up.

Listen to a reading of “A Color of his Own,” by author, Leo Lionni, and explore with watercolor paint to create your own chameleon.

On July 13 at 4 p.m., we will have a music and movement program, “Let’s Sing” for toddlers and Pre-School age children celebrating friendship and togetherness.

July 20 at 4 p.m., we will host “Explore Predators” in conjunction with Electric City Aquarium and Reptile Den. This is for all ages and we will learn how large reptiles hunt and capture their prey.

One more Summer Art program we will be hosting is “Bee Kind Art” on Thursday, July 27 at 4 p.m.

Any questions should be directed to Shu (Director of Dalton Community Library); you can contact her by calling the library at 570-563-2014 from 2:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday or Friday.

Our Summer Kids’ Time and Young Adult programs will be continuing through July and the first two weeks of August. Please stay tuned for more programs to be announced.

Just a reminder our Saturday Spotlight book discussion group is on hiatus for the summer, and we will meet again in September. Our bridge group has been meeting on Tuesdays this summer. Call first if you have intentions of joining us, as some of our group are on vacation the month of July.

Safe travels, be safe and enjoy the month of July.
