Celebrating its 10th year, the Sisters of IHM Foundation is hosting a virtual celebration on Saturday, Aug. 5, in honor of the IHM Sisters. During the past 10 years, the foundation has raised thousands of dollars in support of the IHM Retirement Fund.
The Sisters of IHM Foundation will pay tribute to Ann Rink as the 2023 Spirit of IHM Award recipient for her benevolent work within the community. Ann is recognized for her commitment to, and embodiment of the IHM spirit and mission. During her dedicated, decades-long career at St. Joseph’s Center, a sponsored ministry of the IHM Sisters since 1888, Rink helped hundreds of children and adults learn to thrive.
The honorary chairperson of the 2023 virtual celebration is Dan Santaniello, president and CEO of Fidelity Bank. Santaniello is dedicated to both his profession and to local philanthropic and civic organizations throughout Northeastern Pennsylvania. He proudly serves on the Board of Directors for the Pennsylvania Association of Bankers and his commitment to his community has been honored by numerous civic and cultural organizations. Dan, a graduate of Marywood University, also serves on the St. Joseph’s Foundation Board.
Everyone is invited to join the 2023 virtual event at 6:00 p.m. Aug. 5 to hear the stories of remarkable sisters and those, like Ann, whose lives embody the IHM spirit. The event will be broadcast on the IHM Facebook page and on YouTube.
There are several different opportunities and benefits for you, your company, or your organization to help care for the needs of retired IHM sisters. Your generous donation will directly support the ever-increasing costs of maintaining a healthy, safe, and comfortable environment for our sisters who reside at the Pascucci Family Our Lady of Peace Residence (OLP) and at the IHM Center in Scranton.

The Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary is a community of more than 250 Catholic women religious whose roots date back to1845. They have been serving in Northeast Pennsylvania since 1858. In 1871, shortly after the creation of the Diocese of Scranton, the Sisters became a separate congregation since known affectionately as the Scranton IHMs. They located their motherhouse at Marywood and grew into a large congregation. Their ministries have spread throughout the United States and Peru. The IHMs are well known for meeting the critical needs of people especially in education, healthcare, social service, and pastoral and spiritual ministries.
