Anna Scoblick remained a multisport athlete in her transition from Abington Heights to Catholic University.
Scoblick earned Outdoor All-Region honors in the high jump from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association and started 17 games for the basketball team during her freshman year at Catholic in Washington, D.C.
The 5-foot-9 guard shot 69.0 percent (20-for-29) from the floor in her final six regular-season basketball games, then transitioned into track and field where she fell one place short of qualifying for the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III Championships.
Scoblick finished second in the Landmark Conference in the high jump, clearing 1.64 meters (5-4 ½), coming up just .02 meters short of the school record. She helped Catholic finish third in the team standings, its best effort since 2013.
The championship meet jump by Scoblick was also the second-best in the entire region during the season and also earned her second-team Landmark Conference recognition. It tied for the 26th-best high jump in the country in Division III.
Catholic went 18-8 in basketball, including 9-5 in the Landmark.
Scoblick played in 24 of the 26 games.
The late-season shooting proficiency allowed Scoblick to post three of her four double-figures scoring efforts. She was 5-for-5 for 11 points in just 12 minutes against Juniata Feb. 15 and was 5-for-7 in both a 15-point game against Moravian and a 12-point effort against Goucher.
Scoblick averaged 6.7 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.8 assists. She shot 56.1 percent from the floor, 20.0 percent on 3-pointers and 50.0 percent from the foul line.
After scoring seven points and making two steals against Stevens in her November collegiate debut, Scoblick had 13 points and six rebounds against St. Mary’s of Maryland 10 days later.
The 15 points against Moravian was Scoblick’s season high and was followed by 12 points, five rebounds, four assists and five steals against Goucher in what may have been her best all-around game of the season.
Scoblick had seven rebounds, five steals and two assists in 21 minutes when Catholic lost to Elizabethtown in the Landmark semifinals. She had a dozen games of at least six rebounds.
