The play is set in 1920. Several years have passed since Henry Higgins created his Pygmalion, Eliza Doolittle.
McInerney, a retired English professor at the University of Scranton, having studied Bernard Shaw, used his insights from such, and takes Shaw’s play forward in time to reveal where the lives of his characters would have gone. What has become of Eliza Doolittle? Did she stay with Higgins, or marry Freddy? John answers these questions and more.
Directed by Cathy Rist Strauch, members of the cast from Actors Circle’s previous showing of Shaw’s “Pygmalion” are back in their roles as they continue the story: Emma Ross as Eliza Doolittle, David Hunisch as Henry Higgins, Mark Fryer as Col. Pickering, Lorrie Loughney as Mrs. Pearce, Dominick Azzarelli as Alfred Doolittle and David Alejandro Smith as Freddy Hill.
Adding to the cast are Susan Parrick as Grace Mulhare, and Seamus Cadden and Ben Knox splitting the role of Brian Hoffman.
The presented through special arrangement with Samuel French Inc. and special grants from the Lackawanna County for the Arts and Culture, and the Scranton Area Community Foundation.
