CLARKS SUMMIT – Greystone Garden has all types of plants, flowers and shrubs available for purchase.

The garden center located at 829 Old State Road in Clarks Summit is owned and operated by Paul Epsom. It opened in 1992.

Epsom was born in London, England. He attended Warwick University where he earned a joint honors degree in psychology and education. He did post graduate studies at Goldsmiths College at the University of London. In addition, he holds a Royal Horticultural Society level 2 and level 3 certificate of horticulture.

He became interested in gardening as a young boy when his family was always gardening.

The garden center has many interesting plants and flowers for all seasons. It specializes in perennials but also has a great selection of annuals, shrubs and trees.

“I enjoy working outside with plants and meeting and chatting to our lovely customers.” he said.

The owner’s 8-year-old fox terrier, Lily, is at the garden center to greet customers.

The garden center gift shop sells many gardening supplies and gift ideas for both outdoors and indoors. Browse around and look at the soaps and hand creams. There are also candles.

There is an original English Kew Garden displayed inside.

There are all types of gardening tools, watering cans, weather vines and stands, wind chimes, soil testing kits, garden gloves, deer and rabbit repellent, gardening books and much more.

Visit the pottery room where you can find pots of all shapes, sizes and shapes including frogs, snails and birds.

“The garden center sells gardening supplies that can also be used as decorations. We have birdhouses for both inside and outside. You can put it on a wall inside or outside on a fence. We sell wild grasses that can be made into a fireplace garden. We also sell witch balls and friendship balls,” said Susan Gross who works in the gift shop.

Epsom can be seen on WNEP’s Channel 16 Home and Backyard. For more than 30 years, he has been offering advice to viewers about gardening. He enjoys visiting all the gardens and businesses that exist locally and are featured on the show.

Epsom gave this advice for those wanting to start a garden.

“Improve the soil and start simply,” he said. “It’s success that gets you addicted.”
