CLARKS SUMMIT — Kim Pomasan, owner of La Chic Boutique by Kim, is overwhelmed in being selected as the Best of the Abingtons in the category of “accessories and bags.”

Pomasan, who purchased the business in March, part of the “Shops on Main Street,” wanted to offer products that would help women feel better about themselves.

When customers visit the shop, not only do they get a chance to shop for high-end women’s clothes, shoes and accessories, but they also get to know the owner and embrace a sense of community.

Kim Pomasan purchased La Chic Boutique by Kim earlier this year from Kim Nardelli.

“I didn’t even have to change the name,” Pomasan said, laughing.

Nardelli sold the business as a retirement plan and now, as a snowbird, is involved with the business when she comes back to the area.

The boutique has clothing for every occasion, from formal wear to casual. Kim and the former owner curate their products, researching brands and products for a unique offering.

Pomasan knows her lines well, pointing out to customers what clothing and accessories would be right for them.

For example, she often emphasizes both fashion and comfort, suggesting clothing for successful women who are on the go, as she is.

Pomasan sees people of all ages pass through her shop and enjoys seeing different generations shopping together.

“It’s lovely, I used to shop with my mom and my grandmom when I was younger,” she said.

Pomasan said her shop has something for everyone.

“Every age and every price point,” she said.

Pomasan is also a hairstylist and has been for 39 years, so striking up a conversation with a client or customer is easy for her.

“I’m in their face, I hear some lovely stories. We laugh together, cry together, in just four months,” she said.

The shop is so much more than walking into a big box store, she said, rather, it’s a friendly boutique geared at the specific needs of customers.

“I even help people try shoes on,” she said, “Just like they did years ago.”

She encourages people to stop in and get to know her and become familiar with her stock, which is always growing in response to customer needs.
