DALTON – During July’s Council meeting, secretary Laura Kinney announced that the finance committee approved to purchase a safe to store council’s documents. She said that the committee opted to look for a safe that is both fire-rated and waterproof.
“Being that (council was) in a situation with water previously, that’s what the finance committee decided on and (is) paying out of the COVID funds,” she said.
Kinney said that she will look for one that ranges from $3,000 to $4,000.
In her secretary report, Kinney said that the safety committee completed their certification renewal and can receive credit for the workman’s comp policy. She also mentioned that the insurance policy is up for renewal.
In his law and legislative report, councilman Len Peters read Resolution 21 of 2023, which authorizes Dalton to execute and apply for an LSA (local share agreement) grant to secure funding for the Dalton Fire Company to acquire a brush truck in an amount not to exceed $225,000.
In his public works report, council President Bill Brandt said that the committee renewed a winter service agreement, in which the Department of Public Works will receive reimbursement from the state for repairing the roads.
