CLARKS SUMMIT — A second store of Duvall Leatherworks is now occupying the space on 320 S. State St. next to Grateful Roast Coffee.

It had a grand opening with a ribbon cutting on Friday, Sept. 15. Stocked with the same merchandise as the first store, located on 314 Wyoming Ave. in Kingston, this new location of Duvall Leatherworks has a big variety of leather goods such as purses, handbags, backpacks, accessories and men’s wallets and belts.

“I just wanted to be able to showcase out products in a showroom for the fellows in Scranton and the Abington area,” said owner Nick Duvall.

Working with leather has always been a hobby of Nick’s since he was a young man. In 2005, he turned this hobby into a business. He started making leather at his home. Throughout the years, he hired employees and had his own workshop. His leather goods were initially made in the front of his first store in Kingston. Later, this production area was moved to the back of the store. In 2021, the workshop moved again to its current location at the Hanover Industrial Park.

Everything from Duvall Leatherworks is made from scratch.

“We buy the leather,” he said. “The leather comes in tanned. Then, we cut it into parts, sew everything together, finish all the edges, and it’s a finished product,” said Nick.

Nick still has his first store in his hometown of Kingston, where he lives with his wife Vicki. Although products can be bought online at duvallleatherwork.com. Nick enjoys having two stores because he gets to sell unique and exclusive products.

“Now that we have two stores, we can put different things in different stores sometimes,” he said.

One of Nick’s employees at the Clarks Summit location is Jenna Cruz, who does the marketing of the store. She worked the merchandising and the layout of this store.

“I try to bring a more luxurious image to the store,” she said. “Our Kingston location has been set up the same way and looks the same way a lot of years. Here (Clarks Summit), we can make it brand new and make it completely unique to what we have there.”

Tara Romeo, who is the retail associate, started training at the Kingston location but now works at the Clarks Summit store. She helps customers find the style of leather goods that they are looking for and assures the happiness with what they have.

“I like the feel of the store,” she said. “I like the atmosphere and the community. I’m originally from the Clarks Summit area, so I feel right at home here.”

The shop hours of Duvall Leatherworks in Clarks Summit are Monday to Friday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
