There are not many shopping experiences that come with wine and chocolate.
All that plus a cozy atmosphere is exactly what is available at Clark Summit’s La Chic Boutique by Kim. The little shop located along State Street bolsters a varied inventory of stylish things for consumers to enjoy. Shop owner Kim Pomasan sat down to talk a little bit about her business, and the unique experience it delivers to all of its customers.
The first thing that comes to mind when thinking about this business was how exactly it came to be. Pomasan said that her name being there is actually a kind of happy coincidence.
“I bought it back in March from a woman named Kim,” she said. “Which My name is also Kim so the name stuck.”
Pomasan is not just anybody taking over this business, she is a veteran stylist who has been at her craft since 1984. La Chic is her most recent passion project she is putting her talents into.
The most important thing to Pomasan at La Chic is delivering a personalized experience for their customers without being too pushy or overwhelming. Kim said regarding her customer base,
“All of the local boutique owners have unique styles so we try to curate our own audience,” Pomasan said of her customer base. “It’s a matter of taste so we want our clients to choose us not us choose them.”
Part of getting those clients to choose La Chic is creating an atmosphere that is comfortable and exciting. Pomasan knows that the best way to be both of those things at once is wine and chocolate.
“We always have a cork popped,” she said. “Always have a bottle of wine open, it’s a daily party. We also always have chocolate because who doesn’t love chocolate.”
She went on to describe these delectable treats as “staples of the store, adding to the little bit of laid back luxury.”
The experience is not the only great thing about La Chic.
Another massive part of the experience is their varied selection of items. It does not stop at simply clothes, accessories, and pocket books, but also extends into self care products as well.
Pomasan was very proud of their selection of items from Mama Kin’s Jukebox. The selection includes all sorts of naturally sourced items such as soaps and candles. Even the loofahs available for purchase are made with all naturally sourced materials that are not only good for the environment, but good for the consumer as well.
Pomasan personally makes sure these products are on par with what she thinks her customers deserve.
“I go to many trade shows personally to feel out products we bring into the shop as opposed to online orders,” Pomasan said. “This gives a much more personal touch to the products sold.”
The newest addition to La Chic is a wide selection of shoes. The shoes come from all different lines, several from the L’Artiste brand. Their selection is only going to grow as they continue expanding their options.
“We are looking at adding even more styles of shoes overtime because shoes just make people happy,” Pomasan said.
Making customers happy is just par for the course for La Chic Boutique. The care put into creating a safe and enjoyable experience is second to none. Anyone looking for some amazing clothing trends, some all natural self-care products, or some stylish new shoes should absolutely give La Chic Boutique by Kim a shot.
The store’s hours are Wednesday through Saturday 11 a.m to 5 p.m. Sometimes the store may be open later than five because in Kim’s words, “The open sign is on as long as Kim is in the building.”
