CLARKS GREEN — During October’s council meeting, Councilman Dave Rinaldi said that the cost of cleanup from Wind River Environmental of the discharge coming from the sewer line behind Crown Beverage is $13,000.

“That’s what the environmental company’s charge for doing that work,” he said.

Rinaldi said that Wind River bought Cobra Line, in which council used for sewer/stormwater pipe servicing and cleaning. He mentioned that he will seek approval and will have the exact amount for the council meeting in November.

In other business, Rinaldi announced that the fourth quarter payment of the borough’s contribution to AAJRB (Abington Area Joint Recreation Board) adds up to $1,509.75.

“We approved their budget,” he said. “That was our contribution, and this is our last payment for 2023.”

Council voted to approve the payment.

Also, Rinaldi said that he received an application of the first payment to Stafursky Paving Company in the amount of $137,493.95 for the paving of the 200 block of Greenbrier Drive.

“The engineers have assured us that they completed the work,” he said.

Council voted to approve the first payment.

In other business, Rinaldi mentioned that secretary Joanne Culbertson received a quote from Black Diamond Paving & Excavation to resurface the municipal building’s driveway in the amount of $6,500.

Council voted to approve the Black Diamond Paving & Excavation’s contract.

Also, Rinaldi mentioned that Clarks Summit Council appointed Murli Rajan, associate dean and professor of finance at the Kania School of Management in the University of Scranton, as a member of ARWA (Abington Regional Wastewater Authority) replacing Paul Murphy.

In his financial report, Rinaldi announced the following balances as of September 30, 2023: general fund, $541,979.92; capital fund, $129,017.48; sewer fund checking, $318,162.48; state funds, $216,578.99.

Council voted to accept the financial report and pay the bills.
