Lackawanna County Commissioners Bill Gaughan and Matt McGloin began filling a host of vacancies on county and county-related boards and authorities at a recent regular meeting, under a new and transparent process that they launched soon after taking office in January.

For the first time, they required incumbent board members whose terms had expired, or were about to expire, to submit letters of interest and applications for reappointment. And they fully opened the application process, inviting anyone in Lackawanna County to apply.

More than 100 county residents applied and the commissioners made the following appointments:

Lackawanna County Convention and Visitors Bureau

• Reappointed Jeremy Ruby, Eynon, and appointed Thom (cq) Welby, Scranton. Both terms will expire Dec. 31, 2027.

Lackawanna County Health and Welfare Authority

• Reappointed Jerry Preschutti, Archbald. His new term will expire Dec. 31, 2026.

• Appointed William Schoen, Scranton, whose term will expire Dec. 31, 2026

• Appointed Attorney Michelle O’Brien, Moosic, whose term will expire Dec. 31, 2028.

Lackawanna County Performing Arts Authority

• Appointed attorney Kevin Hayes, Scranton. His term will expire Dec. 31, 2028.

Lackawanna County Literacy Committee

• Appointed Sandra Pesavento, Clarks Summit, to fill an unexpired term through the end of this year.

• Appointed Amy M. Ruddy, Scranton, through Dec. 31, 2027

• Appointed Margaret Adolfson, Throop, to a term that expires Dec. 31, 2026

• Appointed Carly Coalson, Jefferson Twp., to a term that expires, Dec. 31, 2025

• Appointed Vivian Williams, Scranton, to a term that expires Dec. 31, 2025.

Lackawanna County Planning Commission

• Reappointed Harry Lindsay, Moosic; John Pocius, Scranton; Cindy Campbell, Peckville; and Carol Scrimalli, Dunmore. The new terms for Lindsay, Pocius and Campbell expire Dec. 31, 2026. Cambell’s term expires Dec. 31, 2027.
