Seniors from Abington Heights High School recently presented a check for $25,345 to the family of Susan Burke in support of the Susan Burke Foundation for Colon Cancer Fund at the Scranton Area Community Foundation.

The Susan Burke Foundation was established in July 2022 in memory of Susan Burke, a beloved community member and running coach who passed away from colon cancer.

The foundation provides financial assistance to individuals with a colon cancer diagnosis who are facing financial hardship, and assists local families in need.

The Shine Like Susan 5K, held in July 2024 at Abington Heights Middle School, marked the third year of the event organized by the class of 2025. The race has raised more than $71,350 to support the Susan Burke Foundation for Colon Cancers since 2022.
